2012/2013 Barclays premiere league fixtures

Champions Manchester City will begin their title defence at home to Premier League newcomers Southampton.

Runners-up Manchester United's opening game of the new season is a tricky away tie at Everton, while Arsenal face Sunderland at home.

Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea side will kick-off at Wigan and Tottenham must travel to Newcastle.

New West Brom boss Steve Clarke will face old club Liverpool in what will be Brendan Rodgers' first game in charge of the Reds.

Paul Lambert will begin his Aston Villa reign with an away day at newly-promoted West Ham, while new Norwich boss Chris Hughton starts with a trip to Fulham.

Reading will face Stoke at home and Swansea's new manager Michael Laudrup will take his side to QPR.

Rio Ferdinand was quick to tweet his reaction to United's opening day fixture, saying: "Everton away first day of the season... solid start that but we will be raring to go!"

Sir Alex Ferguson's side will take on Fulham at home in their second match of the new season.

City, meanwhile, will travel to Anfield for their second game. The Reds then face Arsenal in their third game.

Chelsea's second and third games are both at home to Newcastle and then Reading.
