Vomiting pegs, hair, coins and other strange objects

Residents of an estate in Nakuru
were recently left in shock when
a 12-year-old girl started
vomiting strange objects.
Residents of Githima area
gathered at the girls home to
witness the strange incident. The
minor would be caught by
convulsions and vomit objects
including human hair, pegs and
coins.
"We have never seen anything
like this. She has been emitting
different objects and we initially
thought she was making it up," a
neighbour, Grace Nyambura, said.
Her disturbed mother said the
girl started experiencing the
problems after being bewitched
by one of her neighbours.
Residents pointed an accusing
finger to three neighbours who
they claimed sought the services
of a witchdoctor to punish the
girl after disagreeing with her
mother.
"We know who are behind this
and we are going to lynch them if
we catch up with them," one of
the residents said.
But attempts by the crowd to
teach the culprits a lesson did
not materialise after the three
got word about the plan and
disappeared.
There was more drama as a self-
proclaimed prophet made his way
into the crowd and declared he
had powers to exorcise the
ghosts haunting the girl.
The prophet from the Akorino
sect summoned the girls mother
and ordered her to kneel down
together with her daughter
before embarking on a lengthy
prayer punctuated by loud
chants.
"With the powers that I have, I
order the devil who is disturbing
this girl to leave her in peace.
Shame on the devil! Shetani
ashindwe!" the prophet
chanted amid shouts of halleluya
from the crowd.
The minors mother said the
identity of her tormentors were
revealed in a dream after she
took her daughter to a prayer
session in Nairobi presided over
by a popular TV evangelist.
"The preacher said the person
behind my daughters woes were
my neighbours and in a dream
their identity was revealed," she
added.
She said owing to the sudden
turn of events in her life, the
minor had dropped out of school
and spent most of her time at
home trying to control the
demons that were haunting her.
The items, which the 12-year-old
was emitting, were put in a black
paper bag with residents saying
they were to be used as
evidence against the suspects.
